WeWork and Movember are partnering to raise awareness around mental well-being and men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and suicide. We are hosting events with men telling their stories and a community-wide competition for WeWork members and member companies to raise funds across North America.
Â
We would love for our Boston MoBros and MoSistas to join us for an evening event. We will be hosting a panel session with Dr. Rick Lee who will be speaking about his research in cancer. Mike Irgens is a local cancer survivor and will talk about his journey. Mark Hedstrom joins us from Movember and will be informing us of the impact Movember Foundation has made in the world. There will be special whisky cocktails, light-bites, and special swag to take home! Â
At MGH, Dr. Lee has a clinical focus on genitourinary malignancies. He is vice-chair of
the NCCN Prostate Cancer Treatment Guidelines. He has written numerous clinical
reviews and book chapters on prostate and bladder cancers, and clinical practice
guidelines for UpToDate as well.
Dr. Lee has diverse research interests. His main interest is the translational study of
circulating tumor cells (CTCs) for diagnosis and disease monitoring in prostate cancer
patients.Â
Mark is responsible for evaluating, and where appropriate, developing commercialization strategies
and business plans for select national and global investments, including but not limited to, licensing, major grants, development of social enterprise business models, intellectual property royalties and the productizing of health service products. He was previously the Executive Director in the US for the Movember Foundation from 2012 through 2016.
Mike Irgens is a fifth year mobro who has raised over $33,000 by growing a mustache. Mike uses the month of Movember to raise awareness of men’s cancer and spread the word about men’s health. In 2014, Mike was 31 years old with a two year old son and a newborn daughter, was diagnosed with testicular cancer through a routine doctors appointment. Mike is now cancer free and uses his own experience to help others.
